Chrisette Michele Talks About Leaving the Music Business
1:38PM Friday
March 1, 2013

A year or so ago, Chrisette Michele considered bowing out of show biz.  It was the "weakest moment in my musical career," Chrisette tells Kontrol magazine, in a story that will appear in the publication's upcoming spring 2013 issue.

"I almost decided to leave the industry completely because I didn't know that I could say no and do things on my own," Chrisette tells Kontrol.  "I relied on the 'experts' to tell me what I needed and I thought maybe I wasn’t strong enough to say no."

Ultimately, Chrisette decided that she was, indeed, strong enough.  Five years after releasing her 2007 debut, Chrisette took control of her music career, and last year released a mixtape, Audrey Hepburn: An Audiovisual Presentation.  She's now preparing to release her fourth studio album, Better.

She shares details on the changes she's made in the upcoming issue of Kontrol.  The magazine arrives on shelves March 4.

In other Chrisette news, the singer had to cancel a New York City show on Tuesday night because of a ruptured appendix, according to the SingersRoom.com.  On Friday though, Chrisette tweeted that she had been released from the hospital and was heading home.
