Celebrating Shreveport Black History Icons – Dr. Darrell Webb

As a committed mentor of at-risk young men for over 15 years, Dr. Webb embraces education not as job, but as a calling. Education was not always choice, but his destiny.

He began his journey as a second-grade teacher at Sunset Acres in December 2005. After six years of preparing second grade students for the third grade, Dr. Webb chose to further his career by applying to work at a TAP (Teacher Advancement Program) school in DeSoto Parish.

In 2011, he began working at Mansfield Elementary School where he served as a third grade Math Mentor Teacher. While working in Mansfield, he participated in the Superintendent-led administrative Co-Hort, called Operation L.E.A.D. In 2014, Dr. Webb saw an opportunity to come back to Caddo as an Assistant Principal at University Elementary School. One year later, he was appointed the Principal of Turner.

Dr. Webb earned an Associate of Science degree in Accounting from Southern University in Shreveport and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from Louisiana State University in Shreveport, where he became a member of Kappa Alpha Psi. While working as a Bell Captain and New Employee Trainer at Sam’s Town Casino, Dr. Webb decided to enhance his training skills by pursuing an Adult Education program at Northwestern State University. In 2003, he received his Master of Education Degree in Educational Technology. In 2004, he received his Specialists in Education Degree in Educational Leadership. In 2011, Dr. Webb earned his Doctoral Degree from Grambling State University.

“Children don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care”, is the ultimate philosophy that drives our principal each day.

Dr. Webb is married to Jamie Webb and is the proud father of two beautiful children, Drayden and Baylie. He is a product of Caddo Parish Schools and is fully invested in molding future products of Caddo.
